Happy 2026! I'm not dead!

Whoa, it's been a minute! Happy new year!

Despite what activity on this blog might indicate, I didn't shuffle off this mortal coil around August; I didn't even stop writing (not completely, anyway), but I hit a bit of a wall. There were many reasons, but I think a big one was scope creep—even when I set out to write something short, the word count inevitably got away from me, and I never finished the post.

To see what I'm talking about, you need only look at the "media roundup" posts; the whole point of them was to share things I found interesting during the month, but didn't feel merited a whole post of their own. But then I'd start writing and end up with a couple thousand words and a post that was too long and about too many different things.

I don't believe in New Year's resolutions, but this year I do have the ambition to be more consistent in my writing. The goal, for now, will be to publish one post per month. I'm also scrapping the monthly media roundups; instead of forcing myself to summarize the things I found interesting in a single post, I'll aim to write shorter posts about specific things as the urge hits me.
The next post will hopefully be just that, as I've got an outline ready for a review of Ha-Joon Chang's "Edible Economics"—possibly my favorite book I read last year. That should be coming up before the end of this month.

So yeah, that's it for now. I'm not dead, and I'm still writing! Good riddance to 2025—let's make 2026 turn out better.

Cheers.
